We started Chasing Heatherwood as a love letter to God, marriage, and family. Our hope is that the blog posts and books you'll find here will start a dialog between husbands and wives.
This blog was started out of the ashes of our broken marriage. For years, we'd ignored God's direction to find the answers on our own. As a result, we grew apart. Somewhere in the midst of having a family, obtaining college degrees, working stressful jobs, and trying to financially stay afloat we'd lost our connection to God and each other.
At a crossroads, two choices awaited us - reconcile or divorce.
We received a flyer from a local church that read "this flyer may have the potential to change your life." That was the understatement of the year!
Finding a great church was essential in rebuilding our relationship with God. Our Church, Pastor, and Church family have helped breath life back into our faith walk. It's good to be surrounded by people who love God and live positively!
Under God's care, there wasn't a need to let our circumstances and pain define us anymore. The enemy was no longer welcome in our hearts and minds. We made a choice to stop racing after meaningless pursuits; it was time to chase our marriage, family, dreams, and a life devoted to Jesus Christ.
We've prayed that Chasing Heatherwood would be a hopeful resource for struggling marriages and families. It's our desire this will encourage generational curses to end. Husbands and wives could reawaken a newfound passion in their marriage. People would break free from their pain and find new life in God's love.
The Bible is God's love letter to his children- yes, that's you! We want to inspire people to be in God's word and uncover God's will for their lives.
Modeled after one of our Christian literary heroes, C.S. Lewis, we write under the pen names Steven and Katy Heatherwood. Our intention is to give God the full glory behind everything we write.
We are sinners redeemed by God. We are far from perfect people and will never advertise ourselves as such. Our purpose is for our readers to never feel alone or intimidated by a walk with God. YOU are beloved and worthy!
Even if the world is falling apart all around you (believe me, we've been there too) take comfort that your marriage isn't the first to be tested.
Let's go on this journey together and see what amazing transformations God can work in our lives when we give it all up to him!
"For whoever would save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will find it." - Matthew 16:25
