Memorial Day is a time of remembrance. We give thanks to the fallen soldiers that sacrificed greatly on the battlefield. They gave their lives protecting our freedoms and families.
As the daughter of a Marine, I have grown up in awe of these modern-era knights. The perseverance and selflessness of a soldier is to be revered. Praise God for these courageous men and women!
Every Memorial Day since I was a child, my father and I visit a local cemetery to decorate the graves of fallen soldiers. If the graves have been neglected, we clean them off and brush away the debris.
For every soldier we find, we leave a flower and a prayer of thankfulness.
This tradition is unwavering with my Dad. After serving in the military, he'd been fortunate to safely return home. I believe that he was deeply humbled by this and knew how easily the outcome could've been reversed. Perhaps there was even a sense of guilt he felt for being one of the "lucky ones."
Lord, we pray for the loved ones devastated by the loss of a beloved soldier. We pray that his legacy is preserved; a testimony of bravery and selflessness for the people who grieve him.
We ask for healing of their hearts and the comfort of knowing that this brave soldier no longer feels any pain, embraced in the arms of the Lord.
Please give strength to the loved ones left behind. God, we ask that you give them friends and helpers to ease their burdens. There will be lonely nights and moments of sadness, but we pray that you’ll ease the suffering of these broken hearts. Jesus, we ask that you wrap these families in your protection and draw them nearer to you in their times of pain. In Jesus name, Amen.
From the bottom of our hearts, we want to thank the soldiers that have sacrificed their lives for our country. We also want to thank the fearless and selfless families of fallen soldiers. God Bless you!
