We began Chasing Heatherwood with the prayer that our story would inspire others to find hope on the other side of adversity.
As Christians, one of the most effective ways we can serve God is through genuine humility. We are called to humble ourselves before both God and man. The Gospel's power comes to life through making ourselves relatable to those that don't know his goodness.
For us, it can be extremely painful to remember those times before we allowed God to begin to work in us. However, we believe that broken people redeemed by God can be some of the most engaging testimonies.
All throughout the Bible, God used people who failed miserably. The Apostle Peter is a great example. He publicly denied Jesus three times to protect himself when he felt threatened (Mark 14:66-72.) Afterwards, he wept in deep sorrow and repented. Later on the Day of Pentecost, Jesus used him to bring three thousand people to salvation in one day (Acts 2:14-42.)
It doesn't matter if you feel qualified to share God's love and grace. God does not call those who are qualified, He qualifies and equips those He calls. Remember that Peter began as a fisherman!
Don't feel like you're not accomplished enough to be used by God. None of us are truly good enough or righteous (Psalm 14:1-3.) Your failures and challenges are things God can use to bring people to Jesus in ways you've never imagined.
Genuine testimony is one of the best ways we can glorify God! Raw and real stories of where we've been illustrate the transformation that God has done within our hearts. Hope can be found when we share how he's blessed our lives.
The unfailing mercy the Father has lavished upon us offers hope to hurting hearts. It brings encouragement to those whose pain and sin make them feel unworthy or unlovable to God.
A genuine testimony tells an apprehensive seeker "I'm not perfect, but when I surrendered my life to God, I was given a second chance to live the life I'd always dreamed about."
As ambassadors of Jesus, it is our mission to be a light in the darkness. There is someone out there waiting to hear your testimony of courage, faith, and grace. Let's speak openly, boldly, and be courageous about the incredible transformations our Lord has done!
